Peter McCarthy, LL.M, BSc., SCSI, MRICS, MCIArb.
Peter holds a Master of Laws Degree in Construction Law and Adjudication and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying; both with distinction. Peter is also a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Peter has over 25 years of practical experience in the civil engineering and building construction industry. Employed by some of the larger and more established firms as a Commercial Manager and later as a Commercial Director. Peter has extensive experience in producing, managing and defending claims in conciliation and arbitration.
Building on this vast experience, MCDR specialises in supporting and assisting clients on construction law matters; contract administration and contractual correspondence; claims preparation, appraisal and defence; dispute management and dispute avoidance. MCDR also supports and assists clients on dispute avoidance boards and project boards and also represent clients in Mediation, Conciliation, Adjudication or Arbitration. MCDR will also accept appointments as a Mediator, Conciliator or Adjudicator on construction disputes.
– Extensive first-hand experience of building and civil engineering techniques (particularly in the planning and construction of roads, urban refurbishments, marine works, bridges, water and waste water projects) design and build projects, programming and measurement, the drafting and interpretation of agreements and the preparation of interim and final accounts.
– Widely experienced in the preparation of case submissions for dispute resolution and the management of the dispute resolution process.
– In-depth knowledge of all the standard forms of construction contracts and methods of measurement, including JCT Contracts, FIDIC, NEC and Public Works Suite of Contracts.
